IC
Full Name:
Franklin Curtis Longbottom
Nicknames: Frank, Frankie, Longbottom
Age: 30 (I'm flexible with age. I've played him as close in age with the Marauders as well as older so I'm willing to change this)
Birthday: July 7, 1958
House/Year: Gryffindor
Occupation: Auror
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Martial Status: Married to Alice Longbottom

Immediate Family: Alice (wife), Neville (son), Augusta (mother), Harold (father).
Blood Status: Pureblood
Loyalty/Alliance: His alliance will always be to the Order.
Role in the war: One of the original members of the Order of the Phoenix. Frank also is an Auror and takes his job very seriously.

Full Personality:The easiest way to describe Frank is that he's just an all around good guy. He has his flaws and vices, but for the most part he's very likeable and a genuine person. There are no false pretenses; what you see is what you get. He truly wants to do the right thing and always tries to achieve that.

His easy-going nature made him very well liked in school. Frank was sort of the Golden Boy of his year, but never really acknowledged that. He just did his own thing, and was generally praised for it. He had a lot of friends, and never looked down on anyone despite his lineage. Even though he's a pureblood, he does not think himself better than anyone else. This has carried over into adulthood. Frank is very much the same way around his co-workers at the Ministry. Because of that he's always been popular among the other Aurors. Even though they deal with serious subject matter and work grueling hours, Frank tries to keep everyone smiling and even pulls the occasional prank to keep up spirits and morale.

When out in the field however, Frank knows it is no laughing matter. He slips into Auror mode and takes everything very seriously. He is calm and level-headed, but being naturally quick-thinking he is able to react almost instantly in the situations he finds himself in. Despite having a good heart and a charming disposition, Frank understands the demands of his job; if the situation becomes violent, he will react accordingly without hesitation.

Frank is a very strong willed person, which he inherited from his mother. But it is the laid-back personality he received from his father that keeps him from being outright stubborn or overbearing. When he believes in something, he is passionate about it and will fight for it. His will and sheer determination to do the right thing are two major assets in his being an Auror. He does not give up easily on anything, especially when it is something he believes so strongly in (such as fighting against Dark Wizards).

One of his other strengths could also be considered a weakness. His work ethic. Even though he is pretty easy-going, Frank is very dedicated to his job. So much so that it really does take away from other aspects in his life. It is very fortunate (depending on how you look at it) that his wife is an Auror, otherwise their marriage would no doubt suffer and become quite strained due to the grueling hours and sleepless nights that go along with the occupation. It is not out of the ordinary for Frank to work for days at a time, relying on his determination and the chemical reliance on caffeine to keep him awake. Given that they've been living in a more peaceful time as of late, Frank isn't working around the clock anymore. He can spend much more time with his wife and son than before. Even so, he still works very hard in order to provide for his family.

Frank's love for his wife and son is another strength that motivates him. He wants more than anything to help build a better, safer world for witches and wizards all over, but especially for Alice and Neville. His love for them is the strongest force he possesses. There is no questioning the amount of admiration and respect he has for his wife, and how utterly devoted he is to his son.

His biggest weakness is that he is probably a little too forgiving. He isn't a push over by any means, but his conscience doesn't allow him to stay angry or hold grudges. This leaves a slight effect on his work. While he is one of the most highly regarded and respected Aurors, Frank rarely will inflict pain upon anyone -- even the darkest wizards he has had to face. He opts instead for stunning and binding spells when he can, and only as a last resort will he act in violence. Despite the Ministry lifting the ban on Unforgivable Curses for Aurors to use during the war, Frank has never cast one and does not invisioning himself ever doing so.

With his strong sense of doing the right thing also comes with a need for succeeding at it. Frank works very hard at what he does, and typically is successful at it. But he can't win all the time, and when he fails he takes it very hard. While he won't outwardly express it, Frank will internalize the disappointment in himself. He'll still laugh with his mates and get his work done, but behind his smile he'll be kicking himself. He also had a tendancy to go back over what he did wrong and find a way to correct it.

Appearance: Tall and athletic, but not overly muscular. Playing Quidditch in school and intense Auror training has helped keep him physically fit and in great shape. He's not chiseled by any means, but he's fairly toned. Frank still has a little baby fat in his face that stubbornly will not go away but makes him appear all the more easy to approach.

Frank's facial expressions are a big part of who he is. His smile can convey several different messages, be it friendly, mischievious, confident, or endearing. This same smile naturally tends to curve up into a smirk on one side, so he has to give a little extra effort to straighten it out. When Alice has caught him getting into a bit of mischief, he gives her a look that is somewhere between a sad puppy and a cheshire cat.

When not conversing with someone, or out on a mission, Frank's posture is usually very relaxed. While he was raised with a firm hand and taught to sit up straight at all times, he's allowed himself a bit of relaxation these days. Not to mention, working himself to the bone nearly everyday makes it hard to always keep his posture perfect.

When Frank is working he dresses nicely. A pair of nice dress trousers, button up shirt and a tie. If he's out in the field though, he'll wear more Auror-friendly attire (dark clothing, no ties or buttons as they could be caught or snagged, and a cloak if necessary). When he's at home working, he'll lose the tie and untuck his shirt. If on the off chance he's not working, Frank likes to be a bit more casual.

Desired PB: John Krasinski: One Two

History: (everything I've written concerning Frank and Alice's relationship can be altered. I'm more than willing to mesh with Alice's player :D)

Frank is the only child of Augusta and Harold Longbottom. He would've been happy to have some siblings, but Augusta wasn't too terribly maternal and felt that one son would be enough to sustain the family for another generation. Harold knew better than to protest. Though having siblings for playmates would've been fun, Frank was able to entertain himself and had friends in the neighborhood.

Augusta raised Frank with a firm hand. She knew how she wanted her son to behave and act, and made sure he did so. As a child, Frank was a little afraid of his mother's tendancies to be a bit of a bear, but went along with her antics. He didn't have much of a choice. Augusta was a woman who got her way. It was through observation of his father that Frank figured out how not to let his mother's biting remarks and bossy nature get to him. Harold was a very passive figure, letting his wife claim the dominating role in the house. He wasn't ashamed of it either. There was just no arguing with Augusta and Harold knew better than to try. He wasn't a complete pushover though, he just knew how to work around his wife's behavior to get what he wanted as well. Watching his father over the years helped Frank to develop his mellow approach to life. Being the only child however did come with its own set of pressures (that were only glorified by Augusta). Frank felt it was his responsibility to always give 110% effort in everything set before him. He wanted his parents to be proud of him, and as a child that was usually his main goal.

While Frank was very popular among the kids in the neighborhood, his mother didn't like for him to spend too much time goofing off. She had him tutored at an early age. Frank showed signs of promise academically early on, and it gave his parents high hopes for when he would one day go to Hogwarts. When that day arrived, Frank was very excited.

After receiving his invitation and obtaining the necessary supplies for his first year at school, Frank boarded the train that would take him to Hogwarts and wasted no time in making friends. He got on well with the kids his age he met in his compartment, and didn't forget them even when they were sorted into different Houses at the Sorting Ceremony. Frank was put into Gryffindor, which he'd been hoping for after his parents had explained the different Houses to him. He was welcomed with open arms, and vowed to do his very best at everything he attempted in order to make his House proud. From the start, his favorite subject was Defense Against the Dark Arts. He seemed to have a natural gift at the subject and hoped that it would serve him well. As good as he was at it, Frank also enjoyed the subject of Herbology.

While in school, Frank was pretty well liked by most of his peers. He didn't go out of his way to make enemies, or flaunt his bloodline around. Girls were drawn to him because he was tall and posessed a very boyish grin hinted with charm and mischief. He was also just a genuinely good guy, which sometimes could be hard to find. For the first few years at Hogwarts, Frank focused mostly on his studies and establishing himself in school. He worked up a good reputation with most of the teachers and worked very hard to get good marks. It wasn't until he became involved with the Quidditch team that he noticed the attention he got from girls. It didn't inflate his ego, but rather humbled him. Frank treated his lady admirers in a gentlemanly way. He never really actively persued them, but if there was a girl he was particularly fond of he might smile a little longer at her and carry her books to class, or sit across from her at meals. He dated a couple of girls during his fourth and fifth years, but it was never anything serious; he was still quite young after all!

There was one girl in his House (subject to change) that Frank had always known, but not until his fifth year did he realize how much he was drawn to. Her name was Alice, and before Frank even knew what hit him, he was completely smitten over her. She was the embodiment of everything he deemed beautiful. He felt a little awkward around her when he tried to let her know how he felt, but it all worked out in the end. At the end of his fifth year they started dating, and have been inseperable ever since. Once they were both out of school, Frank wasted no time in proposing to her. They were quite young, but he knew Alice was the one for him. He also knew that he wanted to be an Auror after finishing school which meant three years of intense training, so he knew they could either get married right away, or wait at least three more years. Living in a time of impending war meant living in the moment, which was ultimately why Frank chose to propose to Alice right away. His mother voiced her discontent over the idea of her son getting married at such a young age, but matters concerning Alice and their relationship was one thing that Frank would not concede to his mother on. Eventually she gave in and the Longbottoms welcomed Alice into their family.

Even when taking out their marriage factor, it was easy to see that Frank and Alice worked together amazingly well. They were placed together as partners in the office and in the field. Just as Frank had been a rising star, Alice was not far behind. The two made a near perfect team, always performing above what was expected of them. Frank loved that he got to spend everyday with his wife, but not just because she was fun to work with. It was mainly because that was the only way he did get to spend time with her. Life as an Auror was rough, and took up almost all of his time. At least this way, he could be beside Alice even if it was in a work setting. It was also nice having her there, as it meant she could understand when things got stressful, or when he got so tired he could barely see straight but still diligently worked on into the night. Having her there made all the hardships easier to cope with, and Frank hoped she could find the same comfort in having him there too.

About halfway through his training at the Ministry, Frank was approached by Albus Dumbledore himself in regards to joining a sort of revolutionary group known as the Order of the Phoenix. Frank had become very well-known among the trainees in the Auror program and already dubbed a rising star. While this mattered little to Frank, he assumed this was part of why Dumbledore approached him. He was honoured, and graciously accepted. This was something Frank considered the opportunity of a lifetime, and he really felt like he was doing the right thing and could truly make a difference in the world. Much to his delight, Alice was also inducted into this elite group of witches and wizards and together they helped fight the dark wizards for the future of their world.

When Alice became pregnant, Frank went into instant father mode. After living through the war, fighting Death Eaters and Lord Voldemort himself, Frank was very protective of Alice and their unborn child. In his mind, no one wanted to be a father more than he did so it was very hard for Frank not to announce to the world that they were having a baby. He knew they had to be careful with that knowledge though. Being famous Aurors by this point, they were also the targets of many Death Eaters and he did not want Alice's condition to reach the ears of any enemies. Only a select few members of the Order were informed, and not until both the Death Eaters were driven out and it was too difficult to hide it did Frank and Alice announce they were having a baby.

July 30, 1980 marked the birth of their son, whom they named Neville. As excited as Frank was to be a dad, it doubled, even tripled when Neville was born. He was, and still is, extremely proud of his son and loves him very much. His method to parenting is very different than the way his parents raised him. Rarely ever is he firm with Neville. He loves playing with his son and making him laugh. Rarely ever does he take the disciplinary role (though he always backs Alice should the need arise), but discipline is not often needed with Neville; their son isn't defiant, and typically is well behaved a good portion of the time. Everything Frank fought for in the war, and as hard as he has worked as an Auror has all been more than worth it. Because of his efforts, he is able to go on walks with his wife and son, or play ball in the yard with them. They have a future now, and he knows not to take it for granted.
