It's been.. busy. I've been fielding angry owls -- owls that are so angry in fact, that the actual birds themselves come pecking -- all morning. I can't even get to my normal paperwork, which by the way, is piling up in my inbox. I'm just glad it was my turn to come to work today, and not Alice. She and I came to a decision to make us both happy. We're going to work as a tag team so that Alice can get back into her career and I can spend more time at home with Neville. Fortunately the boss agreed. I think he'd rather look at her pretty face than my ugly mug, so everybody wins.
The Prophet can write what they want, the Ministry can say what they want, but it's not going to make any of this better. I'm sick of playing this Middle Man crap when I should be out there hunting down the people responsible. Of course the six pardoned Death Eaters had alibis. How hard is it to come up with an alibi? Even if some of them were seen around the time of the attack, that means nothing. Polyjuice, anyone? They weren't grilled for their alibis. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ministry handed them alibis themselves. Wouldn't want to look bad in the public eye, would they?
Of course, there is the possibility that the pardoned ones had nothing to do with this. It's just a big coincidence. The problem is, trust is nearly non-existant. I feel like the Ministry has an excuse for everything. Why can't they just admit that there's the possibility that this could be more than a copycat incident? I understand they don't want people to panic, but for Merlin's sake, better to be safe than sorry. Give people a bloody chance to put up protection spells.
I've got another owl pecking at me. Back to the grind.
